We’re proud to call ourselves one of Sheffield’s premier brass bands.

Recent history

In 2010 we became Yorkshire Third Section Champions and represented the Yorkshire Area at the National Finals. That was followed in 2011 with a Third place at the Area Contest, winning promotion to the Second Section. 2012, being our first year in the Second Section saw us placed Seventh. In 2013 the band came third at the Area placing the band equal second in the Second Section. In 2015, the Band won the Yorkshire Area Second Section and followed it in 2016 with the top spot in the First Section. The back to back wins meant we were competing in probably the hardest section in the country – the Yorkshire Area Championship Section. Despite the band’s best ever performance in the Championship Section, the performance wasn’t good enough to secure a place for the following year, so relegation back down to the First Section is on the cards. We’re not taking it lying down though and have our sights clearly set on consolidating our position in the second tier of banding and launching another assault on the top section! The summer is behind us

Now the summer concert season is behind us, and with our new MD at the helm, we’re looking forward to the Christmas period (did I really just mention the ‘C’ word?)  then it’s back in to contest preparation mode with a vengeance. Now the Nationals are out of the way and all the rumours have been put to bed about the First Section test piece we all know it’s Brass Metamorphosis by James Curnow and it should be a fun piece to work on!

Before Christmas though comes our Autumn Concert at the Newton Hall in Chapeltown on 20th October. It’s Sam’s first concert at the helm and we’d be delighted to see you all there. As usual, this is a themed concert and this year the theme is… no, we’re not going to give the game away – you’ll just have to get yourself down to the Newton Hall for yourself and find out!!
